The Brief

We originally designed this garden a few years ago and have been very pleased with its development. We wanted to give the impression of a North American rocky outcrop and our planting of Amelanchier, Irish yews, Stipa, Cirsium, Stachys, Lychnis and Carex has certainly expressed this.

Due to the steepness of the slope and the inhospitable environment we have lost a number of the ground covering plants. Our task was to replenish the planting to further enhance the look and feel of this amazing space. Our new plant range included Echinacea, Helenium, Geranium and Erigeron among others. We planted in bigger, bolder clumps to try to mitigate erosion and create a more harmonious and cohesive planting layer.

Needless to say the both we and the client are delighted with the results.
